ITBS tests this week

ITBS tests will be given this week (Mon. - Thurs.) with Friday being used for any make up tests.  Please be sure you have plenty of quality rest each night and eat a good breakfast each morning so you can do your very best on all the tests.  Tests will only be given in the mornings and most days students will only take a couple of tests each day (usually about an hour total time).  As the data obtained through these tests is used at the local level, as well as reported to the state, it's important for each student to give their best effort (work carefully and quickly, as these are timed tests).

A reminder that students can buy breakfast at school if that's easier.

Positive Points Party

The Positive Points Party is tomorrow.  Students know which level of reward they earned and what they are able to bring to the party.  Some earned a snack and a drink, some just a drink, some get to come to the party without treats, and some will be working with me to learn techniques to help them be able to attend the next PPP.

Book Bistro

Time is fast approaching for Trimester 2 Book Bistro.  Following is the presentation schedule.

Students must select a different book, genre, and method of presenting than they did first trimester.  Books need to be at the student's reading level and one they have read since the start of this school year.  You don't have to have the entire book read by the time you present, but you do have to have read enough of it to do a thorough presentation.

Science Center Field Trip

Notes will come home tonight and MUST be returned  TOMORROW.  We are taking a trip to the Science Center of Iowa in Des Moines next Tuesday, January 11.  We are learning about famous artists of the Renaissance in art and reading classes, especially Leonardo da Vinci.  It is very fortunate that there is a traveling da Vinci exhibit currently on display at the Science Center.  We will tour that and also get to watch a film about Van Gogh in the IMAX.  Earlham School is covering the cost for each student and teachers will be the only chaperones needed.

A school sack lunch will be made and your account will be charged if you don't return your note by TOMORROW ( 1/5/11).  Sack lunches will be similiar to the ones the cooks made for the Kuehn field trip (sandwiches, chips, fruit, fruit snack, cookie, milk, etc.)
